Karin McLean

About the Author

Karin McLean’s deep interest in the afterlife was sparked by personal tragedy. After losing her younger brother in a devastating automobile accident—an accident in which she narrowly survived—Karin began receiving unmistakable signs from him. These profound experiences ignited a journey to explore what lies beyond this life, leading her to study hundreds of near-death experience (NDE) accounts, seeking insight into where her brother is—and where we all go when we leave this Earth. What began as research ultimately led her to recognize her own NDE.

Drawing from her own spiritual encounters, and those of her family and friends, Karin writes with the insight of a survivor and the heart of a believer, sharing heartfelt stories meant to comfort, inspire, and show that those we love are never truly lost. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Westminster University in 2004 and has nurtured a love for writing for as long as she can remember.

When she’s not writing, Karin enjoys spending time with family, connecting with friends, working out at the gym, capturing moments through photography, walking in nature, reading, listening to music, and attending concerts. With an open heart and curious spirit, she continues to discover new perspectives on the afterlife, spirituality, personal growth, and health.

Inspired Poem

EMOTIONAL WEATHER

Life is like the weather,
It changes from day to day.
Like the rain,
Many tears fall.
Like the wind,
Things blow in and out of life.
Like a storm,
You don’t know what to expect.
Like the sun,
Bright days do come.

I wrote this poem, one month after the car accident that ended my little brother’s life, almost ended mine, and could have easily ended the rest of my family’s.  I wrote it as I sat in my wheelchair in the rehabilitation center that I had recently moved into. When I wrote this poem, it was November of 1991. Decades later, in January of 2024, I began writing my story, and I immediately knew what the title would be—it was the last line of the poem I wrote during my recovery in the rehab. I never planned on writing a book about my journey, but as the years passed, I began feeling an undeniable nudge to do so.  Since my brother’s death, I’ve received many signs from him, so I decided to ask him for another sign—to give me direction as to whether I should do this. I asked him for his birth year, and said, “If I am supposed to write this book, give me an 82 within the next two days.” That very night, I logged on to pay off my credit card balance, and his answer was staring me in the face as a total of $82.82. I then knew that I had a calling to fulfill. I am so honored to help Brian live on by sharing the signs he has given, and continues to give, me and my family.
